When I used to think about marriage, I used to think about all of the perks it could bring, including family. Growing up without siblings, I thought it would be great to have siblings by marriage and another mother to be able to speak with. This is especially true when I look at my mom’s relationship with my dad’s family, which is warm and loving.  That’s not the whole case with my soon-to-be husband’s family. He has an older and younger brother who don’t seem to understand me, and I don’t really understand them much, either. For example, we’ve been in several settings where we’re in a group talking and laughing, but I’ve never really had a one-on-one, deep conversation with either one.  It’s not that we dislike each other; we’ve just …

The Bitter Bulge Battle

The part that every bride dreads is on, the quest to lose weight.

As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m on the path that most brides are in wedding planning – losing weight. I’ve set lofty weight and measurement goals, and I’ve got less than five months to meet them. By the time June 18 rolls around, I want to be 30-35 pounds lighter and lose at least four inches. To put this into a better perspective, I plan to be around the same weight and size that I was as a college freshman almost six years ago. Although, I have already ordered my dress, and it should be here in the next two months, I plan to have it taken in a few inches, four to be exact. More importantly, I want to be able to tolerate the way that I look in a swimsuit for our honeymoon in Mexico. I have a lot of things going on to help me get down to…
