Two Hazelwood Principals Promoted to Assistant Superintendents

Walker Elementary principal Eric Arbetter and Northwest Middle School principal Willicia Hobbs will be promoted after two assistant superintendents step down.

The Hazelwood Board of Education approved the promotion of two district principals to assistant superintendent positions last week, according to a press release. Walker Elementary principal Eric Arbetter and Northwest Middle School principal Willicia Hobbs will take assistant superintendent positions, beginning July 1. Both will take the positions held by current assistant superintendents Darrell Strong and Steve Sandbothe. Strong will focusing his energy in the position of director of alternative education as he would like to spend more time with his twin sons, who attend Hazelwood Central High School. Sandbothe will be stepping down to retire and has been a part of the district since 1995. Hobbs has been in education for more than 25 …

Walker Elementary On Lockdown While Florissant Police Chase Car Thief

Police told Patch that the suspect abandoned the car on foot behind the school before the lockdown was enforced.

Students at Walker Elementary were briefly put on lockdown Wednesday while Florissant Police foiled a car thief nearby. After six Florissant police cars were seen speeding down Humes towards Shackelford Wednesday, Florissant Patch received an anonymous tip from a community member. "A seventh unmarked car just went that direction also." She added that nearby Walker Elementary was instructed by Florissant Police to go on lockdown soon after she saw the apparent chase. Hi stacey, The perpetrator was charged for one incident to one of our children. Missouri law says they are to do a Co-investigation and Office of the Child Advocate did say DFS substantiated the abuse to our one son.
