A North County woman drove her car up into the yard at 5:02 p.m. Sunday attempting to hit her boyfriend who was on a bicycle, St. Louis County Police said. The woman, Latanya Paige, 33, of the 10400 block of Count Drive in the Castle Point area in North County, was charged Monday with first-degree domestic assault. An officer who witnessed the incident said the man avoided being hit by jumping off the bicycle and running. The woman hit the bicycle and started driving away, the St. Louis County police officer said. The officer stopped the woman, who yelled at her boyfriend, “I’m gonna get ya next time,” according to the police report. The couple lived together in the 10400 block of Count Drive and have a child together. Paige is being held …

A Ferguson man faces criminal charges for stealing a Johnny Londoff Chevrolet employee’s van and then stealing eight tires from Dobbs Tire and Auto. Christopher Williams, 41, of the 3600 block of Pershall Road in Ferguson, was charged Aug. 29 with stealing a vehicle, second-degree burglary and felony stealing. Florissant Police said Williams stole a 1994 GMC conversion van from the Johnny Londoff Chevrolet lot between 9 p.m. July 29 and 10 a.m. Aug. 1. The van belonged to an employee at the car dealership. Police said Williams also broke into Dobbs Tire and Auto, 2775 North Highway 67, between 2 and 2:58 a.m. and stole eight tires valued at $1,593. A North County man faces criminal charges after stealing a car owned by St. Louis County on Tuesday, St. Louis County Police said. Joseph Degraffenreid, 18, of the 4500 block of Behlmann Grove Place in North County, was charged with stealing a car Tuesday. “It was actually a bait car,” said Sgt. James McWilliams, a St. Louis County Police spokesman. “They see that the car has been activated and notify corresponding officers nearby.” Bait cars often are equipped with GPS, remote kill switches and door locks or video surveillance technology. With gas prices in Florissant averaging $3.52, drivers are paying almost $1 more per gallon than last year.
Gas prices in the St. Louis area have been rising steadily, and unfortunately, local experts are forecasting that the trend will continue. Currently, gas prices in the St. Louis area are averaging $3.56 a gallon, according to AAA of Missouri. That’s up from $2.59 a gallon the same time last year – an increase of almost $1. “It takes a significant bite out of family budgets, especially when you consider that a family with two cars uses about 1,200 gallons of gas a year,” said Mike Right, a spokesman for AAA of Missouri. “With an increase of $1 a gallon – that’s a $1,200 hit,” he said. As weather warms up a bit, criminals get a little active in the city.
March 23 Police responded to a motor vehicle theft in the 800 block of Derhake. The owner of the car left it unattended while warming up. Police have not announced any warrants in relation to this crime. March 24 A second-degree burglary took place in the 1000 block of St. Ferdinand. According to the police report, entry into the residence could have been gained through a bedroom window that was unlocked. Thieves stole a flat screen TV. Police haven’t announced any warrants.
