MN Girls Explode in Third Quarter in Win Over Pattonville

The McCluer North girls’ basketball team chased away the third-quarter blues on Friday night, and the team dusted Pattonville in the process. North used a third-period explosion to knock off the Pirates, 51-42, in a key Suburban North Conference game at Pattonville. The Stars, who improved to 10-5 overall, recorded their fourth successive victory and fifth in the last six games. Pattonville fell to 7-4 and 0-2 in league play. North senior forward Kaci Cason led the way with 26 points, including 16 in the second half when her club outscored the hosts, 34-19. "Our third quarters haven't been too good," Cason said. Suburban North Conference Could Hold State Champ

McCluer North and Hazelwood Central both have good odds of making it to Mizzou Arena.

There is quite a battle brewing in the Suburban North Conference in boys basketball, and conference play just started a little over a week ago. However, the real war will be played in the Class 5 District 2 Tournament at Hazelwood Central, where two of the top powers in the state will more than likely play in the finals and the eventual winner should make it to the finals in Columbia, Mo. There are no odds in Las Vegas on this, but I would be willing to wager a pizza at either B.J.'s Bar and Restaurant or Pirrone's in Florissant that either McCluer North or Hazelwood Central will be playing on the floor of the Mizzou Arena.
