Man Charged With Stealing Rental Car From Florissant Business

Florissant Police said Tyron Spence did not return the vehicle to Hertz Rental Cars after one week, and it was recovered a month later.

A man who did not return a rental car to a Florissant business faces a car theft charge. Tyron Spence, 22, of the 5000 block of Beacon Avenue in the city of St. Louis, was charged Feb. 4 with stealing a motor vehicle. Florissant Police said Spence rented the car Feb. 19 from Hertz Rental Cars at 8201 North Lindbergh Blvd. in Florissant. Police said Spence purposely did not return the vehicle by Feb. 26 as agreed upon in the rental agreement. The car was recovered one month later. Man Steals Woman's Car After Brief Internet Romance

St. Louis County Police said Paul Myles stole a car from a woman in Spanish Lake after the two met online.

A Spanish Lake woman had her car stolen March 30 by a man she met on the Internet. Paul Myles, 27, of the 9300 block of Koenig Circle Drive in Berkeley, was charged Friday with stealing a vehicle. St. Louis County Police said the woman met Myles on the Internet and they had a brief relationship. On March 29, he spent the night in the woman’s home in Spanish Lake. When she awoke at about 6 a.m., Myles and her 2006 Chrysler Pacifica were gone. Myles turned himself in to his probation officer, and said he left the Pacifica at Page Industrial Court in Overland. He told officers he threw the keys away. Police located the vehicle but could not find the keys. Myles was on probation after he pleaded guilty to distributing a controlled substance in…

Man Put Concealed Handgun in Stolen Car, Police Say

Florissant Police said the man fled from the police officer who approached him.

A man faces criminal charges after a police officer saw him putting put an item into a car that was reported stolen. Florissant Police said an officer saw Derenta Street, 22, put a brown shoulder bag into a stolen car at 306 Dunn Road in Florissant Dec. 11, 2011. When Street entered the car’s passenger side of the car, the officer approached him to arrest him. Street fled from the officer, police said. Police said a Masterpiece Arms 9 mm luger was concealed inside the brown shoulder bag. Street, of the 1000 block of Hornsby in St. Louis' Baden neighborhood, was charged Thursday with unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. He was being held in St. Louis County jail Friday. Teen Charged With Burglarizing North County Home, Stealing Car

St. Louis County Police said the 18-year-old man and another person broke into the home east of Black Jack between Sept. 12 and Sept. 15.

An 18-year-old man and another person burglarized a home and took a car from a neighbor’s house in the 6800 block of Chesapeake Drive in North County, St. Louis County Police said. Malcolm Hodge, 18, of the 6800 block of Chesapeake Drive, was charged Jan. 9 with second-degree burglary, felony stealing and tampering with a vehicle. St. Louis County Police said Hodge and another person broke into the home in unincorporated North County east of Black Jack between Sept. 12 and Sept. 15. They stole a television, a platinum diamond ring, diamond earrings, a spare car key and other jewelry and household items, according to court documents. Man Robs Two, Steals Car in Dunegant Park

The man drove into a squad car while trying to evade officers, police said.

A man robbed two people at gunpoint Friday in Florissant’s Dunegant Park, 1930 Derhake Road, police said. Florissant Police said Quan Rhodes, 20, approached two people in the park, pulled a handgun and demanded cell phones, cash and anything valuable they had. He took a woman’s keys and stole her red, 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, police said. Officers spotted the stolen car and pursued it, attempting to stop it. Rhodes struck a patrol car during the pursuit. Rhodes was charged Friday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Rhodes is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $100,000. North County Car Thief Went for Bait, County Police Say

Police said the man tried to steal a bait car in unincorporated North County just south of Dellwood.

A North County man faces criminal charges after stealing a car owned by St. Louis County on Tuesday, St. Louis County Police said. Joseph Degraffenreid, 18, of the 4500 block of Behlmann Grove Place in North County, was charged with stealing a car Tuesday. “It was actually a bait car,” said Sgt. James McWilliams, a St. Louis County Police spokesman. “They see that the car has been activated and notify corresponding officers nearby.” Bait cars often are equipped with GPS, remote kill switches and door locks or video surveillance technology.
