Health Inspector Tells Florissant Wendy's to Clean Up Its Act

Each week, Florissant Patch publishes information from the local restaurant inspections of St. Louis County Department of Health as well as their grade. Here are some of the latest restaurant inspections from the past 90 days: Wendy’s Address: 8250 N. Lindbergh, Florissant Date of Inspection: Nov. 5 Type of Inspection: Routine Risk Factor: 2 Grade: 95 - A Comments: Inspector observed soiled stains on the blade of the can opener. An employee removed and cleaned the blade on-site, correcting the violation. The employee hepatitis A vaccination list needs to be updated. Peanut Butter Plant to Starbucks, Whole Foods Shut Down by FDA

The Sunland Inc. plant that distributes products to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Target and others is linked to Salmonella contamination that made at least 41 people ill in 20 states.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently announced it has blocked food distribution from the Sunland Inc. peanut butter plant in New Mexico whose products were subject to a wide recall in recent months because of salmonella contamination. The plant supplies peanut butter products to stores, restaurants and retailers like Starbucks (there are two in Hazelwood, the North Lindbergh Boulevard location and the St. Louis Outlet Mall location). The various types of Sunland peanut butter products—sold under several brands by major food retailers, including Starbucks, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Target—had been part of a voluntary recall that began in September and later was expanded to include other nut butters as well as processed nuts …

Starbucks: Let's Create Jobs for USA

More than 7,000 Starbucks Coffee cafes, such as the one in Florissant, are supporting an initiative with the Opportunity Finance Network to provide financing to community businesses.

How much more patriotic can coffee lovers get for Independence Day observations than to brew up a new Starbucks Coffee blend appropriately named "Indivisible?" As part of CEO Howard Schultz's social media campaign #Indivisible, the chain will be handing out FREE tall hot brewed coffees to customers on Wednesday.  The hope is the freebie-backed initiative will start a conversation about where the country's headed. "Let’s tell our government leaders to put partisanship aside and to speak truthfully about the challenges we face," Schultz said in an open letter on the website. "Let’s ask our business leaders to create more job opportunities for the American economy. And as citizens, let’s all get more involved." It's all about "Americans …

Coffee Lovers Rejoice: A Two for One Deal at Starbucks

The coffee giant is offering two holiday drinks for the price of one from Thursday through Sunday.

Did you know that Americans consume 400 million cups of coffee each day? According to CoffeeStatistics.com, that’s the equivalent of 146 billion cups a year. Starbucks is making the holiday season a little brighter for all those coffee lovers with a special BOGO deal starting Thursday and going until Nov. 20. From 2 to 5 p.m. on those days, Starbucks patrons will get a second free holiday beverage when they buy the first one. The BOGO deal is good on several holiday drinks, including the peppermint mocha in regular and “skinny” versions, caramel brulée latte, ginger bread latte and the company’s standing holiday tradition, the eggnog latte. Like Cinderella nearing the end of the ball, these holiday products are on the verge of disappearing at the stroke of midnight New Year's Eve.

Some of the greatest things only come around once a year, and we're more than happy to wait for those items, too.
