A man implied he had a weapon and robbed the U.S Bank at 11000 Larimore Road in north St. Louis County on Friday at about 12:50 p.m.
St. Louis County Police are looking for a man that walked into the U.S. Bank, located at 11000 Larimore Road in unincorporated North County on Friday and robbed it. According to police, the man entered the bank around 12:50 p.m. Officers responded to the bank's alarm system. A man walked up to a teller and implied he had a weapon. He ran from the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police. No injuries occurred during the incident. A former St. Louis County police officer faces a stealing charge after being accused reporting that he worked overtime when he didn’t actually work. Michael T. Wood, 38, of unincorporated South County in the Bella Villa area, was charged Friday with felony stealing. He resigned from the county police department Nov. 8. He worked in the North County precinct at 11815 Benham Road. A St. Louis County Police internal investigation revealed that Wood submitted between 15 hours and 35.5 hours of fraudulent overtime claims between Sept. 14 and Feb. 17. Removing intoxicated drivers from roadways is a high priority for St. Louis County police officers, says St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch.
During the entire month of October, St. Louis County Police Highway Safety Unit and Division of Patrol officers will conduct sobriety checkpoints. Officers who received extra training regarding the effects of illegal drugs and alcohol will check motorists to reduce the number of intoxicated and impaired drivers on streets and highways, including in unincorporated St. Louis County surrounding Florissant. St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch said checkpoints have been an effective method for improving public safety. Officers also will issue citations for seat belt and other violations. Police officers will be checking motorists in an effort to reduce the number of intoxicated drivers on the streets and highways Aug. 17 through Sept. 3.
Drive sober or get pulled over. That's the message St. Louis County and other Missouri law enforcement agencies are passing along to motorists. From Aug. 17 through Sept. 3, those agencies will be cracking down on impaired drivers with statewide sobriety checkpoints and DWI saturation patrols. According to a news release from the Webster Groves Police Department, the sobering fact is that impaired driving contributes to nearly 30 percent of all Missouri traffic fatalities. The releases stated that in 2011, 220 people were killed and 902 seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver.
