Former Rep. Gina Walsh is one step closer to returning to state government. Walsh defeated Democratic challenger Redditt Hudson Tuesday night to head to the November general election. Walsh won with a commanding victory of 13,733 to 7,854 over Hudson, according to unofficial results Tuesday night. Walsh will face Republican challenger Jacquelyn Thomas in the November general election. The winner will succeed Sen. Tim Green.

Former Rep. Gina Walsh (D-St. Louis) has officially announced her intentions to seek the District 13 Senate Seat, now held by Sen. Tim Green (D-Spanish Lake). Walsh formally announced her bid Saturday morning at Old St. Ferdinand Shrine. “The people of North County deserve a person as our next state senator that puts problem-solving before politics,” Walsh said in a press release. “Having served eight years in the Missouri House, I have built the relationships and I have the experience necessary to provide the residents of North County the best representation in our state Capitol.” Sen.
