As the community reels from the news of Randy Feger’s death, many Florissant residents are left wondering what really happened. Several local people agree that that the “media isn’t telling the whole story” when it comes to exactly what happened to Randy Ferger, the Florissant man who passed away Tuesday evening after being beaten at Pirates Cove Bar & Grill last week. “So ruthless and senseless,” posted Cindy Forguson on the Florissant Patch Facebook page. “I really hope the suspect is charged with this ruthless crime. Multisport High School Athletes: A Dying Breed?

The highly talented multisport, high school athlete is a dying breed. This is a theory that I have watched evolve throughout the past 20 years or so. Sure, there are the exceptions, but they are few in number. I have argued this point with my friends, and they are split in their opinion. My older friends who watched famous local athletes excel agree with me. Younger sports fans who didn't see these legends dominate the high school and amateur ranks disagree. They point to athletes who can handle two sports at a high level as good examples. The line is drawn, and few can cross the line when a third sport enters the conversation. Let's get to the point. As blogging soars in popularity, Florissant is well-represented in the blogosphere.
Since Patch recently launched its very own blogging platform, we’ve got blogging on the brain. According to the team at Hat Trick Associates, Technorati reported in 2009 that there were more than 200 million blogs out in the cyberspace. This story saddens me. I did not really know Randy well. He seemed like a nice guy. To the family, I wish I could do more for you than offer my sincerest condolences.
