A man was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty for the murder of a Bel-Ridge man in 2011. James B. Wilson, 21, of Florissant, pleaded guilty to killing Bryson M. Kelly, 23, in an apartment at 9050 Torchlamp in Bel-Ridge on Jan. 4, 2011. Circuit Court Judge Richard C. Bresnahan sentenced Wilson to 20 years in prison for each count of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. Wilson also was charged to 15 years for each count of shooting a weapon at a home or from a vehicle and a second count of armed criminal action. All sentences will run concurrently. St. Louis County Police said Jerrin Brown approached a parked car with several passengers and shot Paul Moore twice. Moore later died at an area hospital.
Updated at noon: A North County man has been charged with shooting Paul Moore to death on Sunday in Berkeley. Moore went to a QuikTrip in Bel Ridge for help, but died at an area hospital Sunday. Jerrin Brown, 32, of the 900 block of Sprinters Row Drive in unincorporated North County near Old Halls Ferry Road and Vaile Avenue, was charged Monday morning with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Moore was shot in the 9300 block of Koenig Circle in Berkeley. He lived in the 6900 block of Lake Valley Drive in North County near Spanish Lake. Two people were charged with the murder of a man who was found dead in a pickup truck parked in Ferguson’s January-Wabash Park Saturday. James Miller, 52, of the 1200 block of Fargo Drive in Ferguson, and Deborah A Lewis, 55, of the 2500 block of Ada Avenue, were charged Sunday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. A Major Case Squad investigation determined that Miller and Lewis killed Byron Poindexter by shooting him in the head at Lewis’ home in Jennings, according to court documents. According to a court document, Lewis told investigators the plan was to make the shooting look like a suicide. Miller and Lewis are being held without bond in St. Louis County jail. Rhonda Rhodes is charged with stabbing Bernice Winston to death in Winston's apartment. Rhodes was found in the apartment with Winston's body Thursday morning, police said.
A Ferguson woman faces first-degree murder charges in the stabbing death of her aunt, Bernice Winston on Thursday. Rhonda Rhodes, 50, was charged Friday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Winston, 60, of Ferguson, was found dead in her apartment Thursday morning, having been stabbed multiple times, according to a Ferguson Police report. Rhodes was found sitting in the apartment, according to Ferguson Police. She is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $250,000. A Ferguson man was indicted Wednesday for first-degree murder and first-degree arson in the death of a Spanish Lake woman Oct. 12. St. Louis County Police said Hosie Taylor, 36, killed Deidre Exum, 51, by striking and strangling her in Exum's home in the 6600 block of Chesapeake Drive in Spanish Lake. Taylor then set fire to her condominium, St. Louis County prosecutors said. A probable cause statement indicated Exum “suffered serious physical injury” as a result of the fire. Exum died due to asphyxiation and blunt force trauma, according to a police report. A witness saw Taylor leaving Exum’s condominium about the time the fire started. A West County resident was shot to death while delivering pizzas earlier this year. Now, a North County pizza delivery driver murder reportedly has St. Louis County police going undercover to catch criminals.
St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch said undercover officers will begin delivering pizzas to parts of St. Louis County in effort to deter armed robberies, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The announcement comes after an Imo’s delivery driver was shot and killed Monday night while delivering pizzas in Dellwood. Police said the driver was robbed of the pizzas and a cellphone. As previously reported by Patch, Parkway South High School graduate and West County resident Daniil Maksimenko, 22, was ambushed, shot and killed in May while delivering a pizza. Florissant resident Zachary Thomas Cook was sentenced to 22 years in prison in the death of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son on Thursday, according to a report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The crime occurred in 2011. As Patch reported in 2011, on May 5, police responded to a report of an injury to a child in the 2400 block of Blue Heron in Florissant. The child suffered a head injury and was taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where he died from his injuries on May 8. The police investigation revealed that the child sustained the injuries after being shaken. A 17-year-old man has been accused of shooting and killing an Imo’s Pizza delivery driver Monday in Dellwood. Earon A. Rivers, 17, of the 10000 block of Bon Oak Drive in North County just east of Dellwood, was charged Tuesday morning with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. On Monday night, St. Louis County Police officers found a driver dead and slumped over at his wheel in the 1600 block of Mowbry Lane. He had been fatally shot underneath his left arm, St. Louis County Police said. Police said three pizzas and a cell phone were stolen.
