Parents have a great responsibility to teach our children to make healthy nutrional decisions.
Any parent knows the the question, "What's for lunch?" It's a lot more difficult than it really sounds. With so many processed "quick foods," it's easy to overlook what we are really feeding our kids on a daily basis. Whether your kids eat lunch at school, grab something out on a play date, or fix most of your meals at home, are we spending enough time reading labels and watching closely to the amount of fats, sugars and calories our kids are eating? I have to admit I am not the best of role models for my kids. My mom was a single, more than full-time working mom, so we had very few "square meals" as a family. Gamers can now rent video games locally at all hours of the day and night. Redbox, the stand-alone kiosks at local retailers most known for their dollar-a-night movie rentals, now offers video games. Games cost $2 a day and can be reserved online for easy pick up at the nearest Redbox location. In Florissant, there are 17 Redbox locations. They can be found at various locations in town, including McDonald's, Schnucks, Dierbergs, Shop n' Save, Walgreens and 7Eleven stores. Most Redbox kiosks are located outdoors to allow for 24-hour access. Top new releases are available for rental, along with popular family and children’s games. We try to keep a lot of fresh fruits and veggies in our house. Often our kids are asking for a snack and I tell them "have a fruit." We're very fortunate as we have kids who love fruits and veggies. My youngest would rather have a cucumber or mushrooms over just about anything. We're also big proponents of all things "in moderation"--sweets are fine as long as we don't have too many of them! more ›
