Florissant Man Led Officers on DWI Chase, Crashed Into Guardrail, Police Say

A man who fled from Frontenac officers during a traffic stop and crashed into a guardrail was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, police said. Christopher Zomphier, 34, of the 500 block of Pelican Lane in Florissant, was charged Jan. 29 with resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated, combined with alcohol and drug intoxication. Frontenac Police said officers saw Zomphier driving on Interstate 64 near Ballas Road at about 1:58 a.m. May 26, and he kept drifting and failed to maintain a single lane. An officer pulled him over, but as he was walking towards his car, Zomphier sped away, according to a report.
