Florissant Man Led Officers on DWI Chase, Crashed Into Guardrail, Police Say

Christopher Zomphier was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, according to a blood analysis.

A man who fled from Frontenac officers during a traffic stop and crashed into a guardrail was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, police said. Christopher Zomphier, 34, of the 500 block of Pelican Lane in Florissant, was charged Jan. 29 with resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated, combined with alcohol and drug intoxication. Frontenac Police said officers saw Zomphier driving on Interstate 64 near Ballas Road at about 1:58 a.m. May 26, and he kept drifting and failed to maintain a single lane. An officer pulled him over, but as he was walking towards his car, Zomphier sped away, according to a report. North County Police Crack Down On DWIs

At a Monday press conference police unveiled a new BAT van and victims showed what life is like after a alcohol related fatality.

North St. Louis County law enforcement joined forces Monday, for the official unveiling of the county's new Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) van. At a press conference held at the Hazelwood Police Department, more than 30 law enforcement officers from around the county stood united while Leanna Depue, Director of MoDOT's Highway Safety Division, announced the holiday DWI mobilization period, Dec. 6 – 12.  Michael Campbell, Sr., was present at the conference and knows all too well the effects of drunk driving.
