Florissant Woman Killed After Losing Control of Car on Icy Roadway

Gwendolyn F. Hopson was killed in a car crash in St. Charles County on Wednesday morning.

A 53-year-old Florissant woman died early Wednesday morning after losing control of her car on an icy patch of Highway 364 in St. Charles County.  According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Gwendolyn F. Hopson, 53, was pronounced dead at 7:03 a.m. after a crash on westbound Highway 364.  The Highway Patrol report said that Hopson was in the third lane of westbound Highway 364 when she lost control of her 1999 Kia Sportage because of ice on the roadway. The vehicle travelled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.  Hopson, who wasn't wearing a safety device, was ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene by an EMT with St. Charles County Ambulance.  Accoring to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch report, paramedics found the woman …

Florissant Teen Escapes Scary Car Crash in West Alton

The 17-year-old was driving on Route 67 when he drove off the side of the road, hit a pole and overturned his car.

A 17-year-old teenager from Florissant escaped a frightening accident in West Alton on Tuesday evening with just minor scrapes and bruises.  According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Geoffrey Ferguson, 17, of Florissant, was driving southbound on Route 67, just north of Highway 94, in West Alton when he lost control of his car, traveled off the left side of the road, struck a pole and overturned the car.  The car—a 1997 Toyota Camry—was totaled, while Ferguson suffered minor injuries. He was taken via ambulance to DePaul Hospital.  According to the highway patrol, Ferguson was wearing a seatbelt.
