The department announced Monday that its German Shepherd officer, Bach, passed away, just weeks before he was due to retire.

The Florissant Police Department lost a valued member of its team in the early morning hours of April 14, Chief William Karabas sadly informed residents in a press release Monday. After he finished his shift on April 13, Karabas said Bach, a K-9 officer who was born in the Czech Republic in 2001, passed away. The department purchased Bach in September of 2004 and assigned him to Officer Patrick O’Fallon. The pair graduated from the St. Louis City Canine Training School in November of the same year. “I have not only lost a partner, but a family member,” O’Fallon said. Bach was a decorated officer, having received two certificates of merit during his nearly eight years of service, including one in June 2005 for apprehending a suspect wanted …

Greg, Good to hear you're alive and kicking. Rev. Moss crossed my mind this morning, I googled him and found he'd passed away. North County possessed some divine magic and Rev. Moss was the visionary. We were blessed to have been associated with some dedicated Christians in our youth. I live about an hour away from Gasaway. I try and keep him on the straight and narrow, but you know Jim. He's a …   more ›

Dennis Cook Loved His Tigers, Served His Community

Cook remembered for work ethic and civic responsibility.

Every fall, when the University of Missouri Tigers took Faurot Field for a football game, Florissant resident Dennis Cook was somewhere watching. “That was a big part of our lives was Missouri football,” said Jeff Cook, his son. Although two of his sons attended and graduated from the university, Dennis remained an avid fan of the Tigers and built a basement filled of Tiger memorabilia. In fact, for several years, Dennis was a season ticket holder to the games, and he and his family would drive to Columbia, MO for tailgating and to watch the game, which is something he loved. The Tigers lost a huge fan on Tuesday, Feb. 1, as Dennis Cook passed away from a heart attack. He was 74. Dennis Cook was born to Don and Joyce Cook on Oct. 24, 1936 …
