Valley of Flowers Schedule

Thursday

Baseball Game
Features: Hazelwood West vs. Riverview Gardens
Time: 4 p.m.

Family Knight
Features: Head out to the Knights of Columbus Duchesne Council grounds for a night dedicated to families. All rides are one ticket, or $1, and the Knights have a special family meal deal.
Time: 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. 

Friday 

Home Grown by the Gardeners of Florissant
Features: If you're looking to add a little plant life to your home, the Gardeners of Florissant might have just the flower or pot for you. The sale will feature all sorts of plants from annuals and perennials to flowering hanging plants to vegetables and herbs for cooking those classic at-home meals. All plants have been locally grown.
Time: Noon – 9 p.m.

International Food Court
Features: A variety of ethnic and foreign food will be on hand at the James J. Eagan  Center grounds throughout the festival. Check out old-fashioned Americana foods such as barbecue, funnel cakes, nachos and ice cream, or you mix up your taste buds with food from Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, Asia or even Greece. 
Time: Noon – 9 p.m.

Craft Fair and Flea Market
Features: This annual Pre-Mother's Day Craft fair offers residents the chance to get a last-minute gift for mom. Local crafters and vendors have a number of products including jewelry, gift baskets, gourmet food mixes, garden ornaments and more. 
Time: Noon – 9 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus Festival Grounds
Features: The Knights of Columbus turns into a carnival for kids and those who are young at heart. Enjoy a number of game booths, carnival rides and carnival food, including barbecued pork, steaks, brats, hot dogs and brats.
Time: 4 – 8 p.m.

Cinco de Mayo Village
Features: Learn and take part in the traditions of Hispanic culture in the Cinco de Mayo Village. With a number of foods and attractions, the village celebrates the heritage and provides a number of booths with prizes and giveaways. Events throughout the village include puppets, bands and fun for families and children.
Time: Friday and Saturday of the festival

St. Ferdinand Shrine Activities
Features: The Friends of Old St. Ferdinand host a number of game booths and activities and concessions with proceeds benefitting the maintenance of the historic building.
Time
: 5 – 9 p.m.

Baseball Game
Features: McCluer North vs. McCluer
Time: 7 p.m.

Saturday

Valley of Flowers Car Show
Features
: Along the historic business district of Old Town Florissant, approximately 200 cars will be placed for show along rue St. Francois. Hosted by Old Town Partners, cars will be judged and awarded prizes at 3 p.m.
Time: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

McCluer North 2nd Annual 5K Run/Walk
Features: Hosted by the McCluer North High School Physical Education Department, the 5K Run/Walk starts and ends in the parking lot of the high school. All proceeds help with the purchase of the Polar heart rate monitors for a class set of monitors. 
Time: 8 a.m.

Family Festival of Fun at James J. Eagan Center

Features: For young children and families, there are activities abound at the James J. Eagan Center with the Cinco de Mayo Village and on-going performances on the grounds, which include: 

  • Pony rides, 1– 4 p.m. (Cost $2 per ride)
  • Moonbouncer, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. ($1 per child)
  • Train ride and Mazes, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. ($1 per child)
  • Children’s hands-on arts & crafts, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Free)
  • Hillbilly Bob and “Old Ruthie,” 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Free) 
  • Crazy Boy Coy – Comedic Daredevil, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Free) 
  • Vince Delaughder – Juggler, Stilt walker, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Free) 
  • Kincaid Puppets, 11 a.m., 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. (Free)
  • Florissant Police Canine Demonstration, 2:30 p.m. (Free)
  • Dog Show, 3 p.m. (Free) 

Volksmarch
Features: For those wanting to incorporate exercise and a scenic tour of Florissant into their festival wants, this is the place. The Florissant Valley Walkers Volksmarch Club sponsor's the "People's Walk." These events take place for 6-7 miles with a pre-determined route through scenic areas in a noncompetitive atmostphere. 
Time: Registration is 8 – 11 a.m.

Tot Wheels Parade – “Mom’s Favorite Things”
Features: No matter if it's your child's Big Wheel or 10-speed bike, decorate your child's bike and have them participate in the parade. The theme is "Mom's Favorite Things," and parents are encouraged to decorate the bikes with that story. The parade takes place in the circle drive of the James J. Eagan Center.
Time: Registration begins at 9 a.m.; Step-off is at 9:30 a.m.

Valley of Flowers Parade
Feature: More than 125 floats and cars will take place in the Valley of Flowers parade, which has been held each Sunday since 1963. Each caravan leaves from a different location in town, including the James J. Eagan Center, Little Woods Park and the Government Building parking lot.
Time: Begins at 1:45 p.m.

I do not understand why you wait until the day OF an event to send out the information. It would be very useful to have an early version so people can make plans for the day.

We post information in our calendar as far out as 30 days as well as ran a story a few weeks ago regarding the festival. The full schedule was available to readers prior to the start of the event on Thursday as well.
