I love the tamales ! My family has been going to Ruiz's for years. It's the first place my son tried Mexican food. Ruiz is an asset to the Florissant community !

Been coming here for years. Always consistently delicious! If you want salsa with an extra kick ask for the green salsa.
I've heard wonderful things about this restaurant for years as a Florissant resident, but every time I have tried them the service is extremely slow and the food is terrible. I'm not one to complain about slow service, because its a restaurant and they can get backed up, but that combined with a plate of chicken nachos that I had to DRAIN (tilted the plate to get the cup of water off my nacho plate) is too much! Thinking it was just me, we waited for my friend's cheese enchilada plate to be delivered, only to find that they had been completely, unedibly burned to the plate. I highly recommend Las Fuentas for great Mex food & friendly, fast service!
Ruiz is without a doubt the BEST Mexican resturaunt around. The authentic receipes are comparable to a resturaunt I ate at in San Diego. If you think a Mexican resturaunt should be hot and spicy then you need to go somewhere where they serve Tex-Mex. They have a great Margarita that can't be beat. I really don't know how someone can complain about the chips an salsa. If you thinks it's bland ask for the green salsa or buy the Chili Con Queso. The service and staff is great.
Salsa is bland! Not good for a Mexican joint. Floors slippery, menus sticky. BUR the grilled chicken taco salad w/lime dressing was really good & service was pretty good. Now i had to go to the bar didn't tell me about drink specials! :-(
I'm not a big fan of Ruiz's at all. I've only been there 2 or 3 times, but that was enough for me. I generally judge a mexican restaurant on their salsa. After all, that is usually the first thing you eat at the table and if they can't get that right, then who knows about the rest of the meal. I know there are differing tastes on what salsa should taste like, but bland tomato sauce I'm sure isn't one of them. I thought the food lacked that punch of flavor that makes me so fond of mexican food in the first place. I thought the staff was very friendly, but it just didn't make up for the lack of flavor across the board. That's why I gave it 2 stars.

I have always enjoyed the many meals I have eaten at Ruiz and love the warm family atmosphere. Servers and bartenders are very friendly. Will continue to go to Ruiz for many more years and meals to come!
