I took one car in for an oil change. A week or so later I went to check the oil and the dipstick was broken with the shaft pushed down into in the crankcase. The handle jammed in to make it look OK. I let that slide.
A month later same car went for state inspection. Passed. A couple of weeks later my wife said the car is making a lot noise. Took it in, brake rotor ruined by brake pad down to metal. My wife does 100 miles a week. They told me you sometimes get a stuck pad wearing down to the rotor in a week. Hmmmm don't believe it.
Took in another car for a single tire, Michelin HydroEdge. ($180) a week later I noticed that the same mag wheel was now missing the car manufacturer logo disc that is pressed into the hub. I supposed it had just popped off when on the tire removal machine. I went in and asked the manager on duty if they had found anything. He told me they had nothing like that. He did not even look. The last year or so they have turned over their staff from those who knew me and cared about service to an indifferent (possibly minimum wage) crowd. I used to do $1k business per year. I will head over to Firestone across the street. I have done business with Firestone occasionally when they were the only ones open on a Sunday. I can still recognize the staff, most importantly they recognize me. Autotire does not care anymore. Three strikes ...you are out....
A new hub cover cost me $31. That tire suddenly became an expensive buy. Dipstick was $17.
