Trek the Water Works of Old Town Florissant in Pond Tour

Florissant Old Town Partners hosts the event for the second consecutive year.

North County residents have the opportunity to explore the beauty and waterworks of Old Town Florissant this weekend with an afternoon of touring.

Ponds, Pools and Planting Tour, hosted by the Florissant Old Town Partners, will take place Saturday afternoon. This is the second year for the event.

Event co-chair Christina Bennett said that the tour will showcase seven stops along the tour that are Old Town homes and businesses that have pools, ponds and water features.

“This is to promote life and activity in Old Town Florissant,” Bennett said.

During the tour, residents can also enjoy some of the Old Town businesses, which will be open for tourists to check out, Bennett said. Many will also have special offerings, such as 10 percent off Florissant Marketplace, a wine sample at Hendel’s Marketplace, which Bennett manages.

The tour, which will be completely different from last year’s stops, that will showcase pools, fountains, ponds and other gardening features, such as a stop at the law firm on St. Catherine and the ponds near Crest Bowl.

Bennett said 100 people attended last year, and she believes that as many if not more than 150 will attend this year.

The tour costs $10, which will include the walkable tour, goody bags, water and fruit and information from the pond expert. Tickets can be purchased at Korte’s Framing, Hendel’s Market Cafe, Florissant Marketplace or Dooley’s Florist.

The event starts at noon at the Steve Robbins Building, 325 rue St. Francois, and runs until 3 p.m. Saturday.
