Plan Family Fun In and Near Florissant This Summer

Between Florissant parks, libraries and other special places, families can plan a new activity each week.

Now that summer has officially started, many parents are ready to spend some quality time with their kids. Florissant families have several fun, inexpensive options for outings and activities close to home.

We’ve compiled a short list of some of our favorite family-friendly places to go and things to do in the area to help you get started on your summer plans.

Entertain Their Brains--There are a number of resources, classes and activities that children and parents can enjoy at the . Take the kids to story time, enjoy movie nights and participate in other fun, free activities. The library also has youth book sales, so you can pick up old favorites and fun new summer reads. Play at the Parks--Did you know that there are more than 20 parks throughout the Florissant area? It's true--and several have playgrounds, walking trails and picnic areas for families to enjoy.

Dive into the Pools--and ’s pool each offer plenty of opportunities for families to splash into fun. During the summer, Koch Park's pool is open from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bangert pool will be open daily 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Plus, the rates are reasonable for residents to enjoy all summer long. Resident fees for both areas are $2 for those five and younger, $2.50 for 6-17 year olds and $3.50 for adults.

Get Pretty and Pampered--Florissant moms and daughters can enjoy of a spa day with .

Catch a Fire--The museum teaches people about what firefighters do, and kids will get a chance to see and learn about the actual instruments and clothes used by firefighters.
