McCluer Outfielder Taken in MLB Draft
Lance Jeffries says he thinks he will sign with the St. Louis Cardinals rather than play in college.
outfielder Lance Jeffries was chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 10th round of the Major League Baseball free agent draft on Tuesday afternoon.
Jeffries hit .457 for the Comets this spring. He led the team with 10 homers and 45 RBI in just 70 at-bats. He had 46 stolen bases and a .587 on-base percentage.
Jeffries was the 320th overall selection in the draft. Baseball America rated him as the third-best prospect in the state of Missouri heading into the draft.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 195-pounder said he would likely forgo college and sign a contract with the St. Louis organization. Jeffries had committed to play at Iowa Western Community College.
