Florissant Native BJ Young Heads to NBA

Former McCluer North basketball star has signed a three-year contract with the Houston Rockets.

From leading McCluer North High School to a state championship two years ago, Florissant native BJ Young is now headed to the NBA, according to KSDK.

Young signed a three-year contract with the Houston Rockets recently. He went undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft and signed as a free agent.

After graduating from McCluer North in 2011, Young headed to the University of Arkansas, where he as expected shined.

In the 2012-2013 season, he earned second-team All-SEC honors and in his best performance of the season went 26 points with 13 rebounds against Northwestern State University, according to the NBA draft prospect page.

According to an ESPN estimate, he was ranked as the 45th best prospect in the draft.

He’s reported to the NBA summer league, where he’s already made an impact.

In a recent game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Young helped make up a huge deficit in the fourth quarter by scoring 20 points.

No information has been released on how much Young’s contract is worth at time of publication.
