Poll: Weigh in on the Hazelwood School District Leadership Changes

With the announcement of a new interim superintendent Friday, what are your thoughts on what will happen next with the district.

Friday, the

The board made the decision Thursday night, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and there's been no word on Steve Price, who's served as superintendent since July 2010.

The main message of the board is that they want to head into a "different direction" at this important juncture, but what are your thoughts?

Were you pleased with the job of Steve Price? What direction would you like to see the district take now?

Ha. Bob I could not agree with you more. "Parents with children in this school district should be very concerned." I am and I hope they bring in somebody new as the permanent replacement. Somebody who actually holds principals accountable for bad decisions and somebody who calls back parents who have concerns. The assistant superintendents don't.

As a parent in the district, I have to agree with both of you. Here's hoping that the next superintendent makes positive changes in the district.

Angela, It's great to know Patch reporters will truthfully speak up and support the community when change is needed. Thank you!

Leadership changes have become so common at area schools. In Jennings, they are beginning this school year with a new Superintendent, High School Principal, and other key players. I am excited about the talent the district has been able to attract but recognize the real concerns of students and parents. I hope that the new leadership, school wellness polices, collaborative initiatives - like Generations for a Healthy Community that Jennings is partnering with OASIS and Girl Scouts to offer - will improve academic achievement and student experience.

Constant turnover at the top usually indicates intense problems within the system. This does not bode well for Hazelwood.
