Superintendent swore in , and Robert Chabot to the while their looked on from the audience on Wednesday night.
The three won their positions on the board during the April 5 municipal election.
Before stepping down from , Les Lentz, Dr. Doris Graham and James Clark gave a few departing words for their colleagues and parents of the district and thanked everyone for their support.
During a 15-minute recess, Florissant Patch had a chance to speak to incoming board members about their expectations and eagerness for the ceremony.
“Nothing is more important that have this type of energy for our board and our kids,” Martinez said before the swearing-in ceremony.
Martinez said he’s focused on three things: listening to everyone in the district and making sure their ideas are heard, getting more parents involved and focusing on the district becoming a strong force in the community.
Morris said he looks forward to working with incoming superintendent and maintaining the district’s accreditation.
For Chabot, he’s focused on getting the board more involved in the schools and getting parents more involved in the district as well.
Immediately following the swearing-in ceremony, the board elected new officers, who are as follows:
- John Knowles, president
- Leslie Hogshead, vice president
- Paul Schroeder, secretary
- Charles Henson, assistant secretary
Once the reorganization of the board was complete, the board continued with the night’s agenda.
The next Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education meeting is scheduled for May 11.
