Hazelwood Schools PTA Council Cancels Taste of North County

The council said it wants to focus on the community's recovery efforts.

The North County community’s recovery from tornado and storm damage continues to be a top priority for the Hazelwood School District (HSD).

The Hazelwood School District Parent Teacher Association Council has announced its cancellation of the Taste of North County at Hazelwood Central.

“The HSD PTA Council scholarship committee fully supports the effort to help our community,” Sarah Day, Hazelwood PTA Council president said in a news release. Even though our scholarship fundraising efforts are important, we want to support our families affected by the tornado. They have immediate needs and we want to be there to help them in any way we can.”

Day and the Council will instead focus its efforts on the second Community Outreach Day the district has planned for Saturday.

“Special thanks to the vendors and volunteers scheduled to participate at this year’s Taste of North County,” she said in a news release. “I hope everyone will consider supporting us again next year or will join us in the Run/Walk event on May 11.”

The Community Outreach Day will be held April 20, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Hazelwood Civic Center. Items are still needed to be donated and can be found on the district’s website.
