Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education Set to Interview Three for Vacant Position

Board could have decision ready by the July meeting.

The Board of Education moved one step closer to filling a vacancy on its board.

During the June school board meeting, the board announced it narrowed its search from eight candidates to three who will be interviewed for the position.

Ferguson Mayor Brian Fletcher, Patricia Washington and Rance Thomas, president of North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice, will each be considered for the board vacancy.Β

In May, former board president and member announced his resignation amid speculation that he, along with three other board members, attended the National School Boards Association conference in San Francisco in April and accrued more than $12,800 for the conference.

Communications specialist Shantana Stewart said the board hopes to have a replacement by the July board meeting.
