Ferguson-Florissant Board Approves $15 Million Bond Resolutions

The board also announced new elementary school principals hired for next school year.

The Board of Education approved a number of items including the issuance of $15 million in bonds.

The board passed three resolutions in connection with the bonds, and according to Chief Financial Officer Mick Willis explained that the remainder of a $25 million bond approved by voters in August 2010 had to be used by June 30. He said that the issuance and sale of the rest of the bonds would be used to finish project work as scheduled.

Last month, . The other $10 million of the bond was issued in September 2010, according to the board agenda.

Lorenzo Boyd, senior vice president of Stifel, Nicolaus, Weisel, informed the board of the smoothness of the bond sale.

The board unanimously approved all three resolutions.

New principals to elementary schools

Superintendent Art McCoy announced the hiring of five elementary school principals.

“Each of these talented individuals will contribute to our mission of high achievement for every child through excellence and equity every day,” he said in a statement.

The hires include:

  • Malinda Ice, principal of
  • Rodney Lewis, principal of Griffith Elementary School
  • Robert Ricker, principal of
  • Emily Turner, principal of Lee-Hamilton Elementary School
  • Julie Whyte, principal of Walnut Grove Elementary School

The hires will become effective July 1.

New playground at Duchesne

The board also unanimously approved a pilot playground program for .

The playground would provide amongst a number of amenities, four slides and a climbing wall.

The playground will also provide a ramp for those students with disabilities to be able to use the playground.

Cindy, My (93 old) mom lives in the Walnut grove neighborhood and just got her phone back yesterday.Read More Florissant told her they would NOT come by. There are several neighbors with mounds of limbs on Milbank and Wadsworth. This has to be an error. Can you followup on this?
