Chancellor at STLCC Outlines Safety Measures in Wake of Attack

The announcement comes in the wake of the sudden resignation of the president of the Meramec campus.

In an announcement to the St. Louis Community College community posted Tuesday, college chancellor Myrtle E.B. Dorsey announced a range of safety measures for all in the system in the wake of an attack on a female student from Chesterfield in a Meramec campus bathroom.

In the announcement, also posted to the college's Facebook page Tuesday, Dorsey noted that she had accepted the resignation Monday of Meramec campus President George Wasson and named Wildwood campus President Pam McIntyre as interim at Meramec.

"I want all of you to know how seriously we take safety and security," Dorsey said in her statement.

  • She called on campus presidents to host Safety Forums at their campuses in the next two weeks, designed "to gather input, review procedures and answer questions."
  • She said she would collaborate with the presidents "create an action plan based on...suggestions (from the forus) and...report that back to the college community."
  • She encouraged students, faculty and staff to sign up for the college's emergency text service, STLCCAlert.
