Parents Get Probation For Hitting Daughter With Pipe, Wooden Poles

Angelia and Keith Brown were placed on two years probation, must attend parenting classes and comply with directives from the state Children's Division.

A North County couple was put on two years probation after pleading guilty to hitting their 14-year-old daughter with PVC pipe and wooden poles.

Angelia and Keith Brown, of the 2000 block of Shoreham Drive in unincorporated North County west of Spanish Lake, pleaded guilty Thursday to third-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor. The original charge was child abuse, a class C felony.

Circuit Court Judge Michael D. Burton sentenced the Browns to two years probation, they must attend parenting classes and they must follow all directives from the Missouri Children’s Division.

St. Louis County Police said that the Browns struck their daughter multiple times with PVC pipe and wooden poles on Jan. 23, 2012 in the 1300 block of Claudine Drive in Spanish Lake.

An official from the St. Louis County prosecutor's office said the Browns had been cooperating with investigators and that their daughter had behavioral issues.
