Why The Low Voter Turnout for Tuesday's Election?

According to the St. Louis County Board of Elections, voter turnout for the April 3 election was 13.8 percent, with a total of 90,233 ballots cast.

In Florissant, voters had city council, school board and community college races as well as a number of ballot measures to decide on Tuesday.

Based on the low turnout, a few Florissant readers expressed their thoughts on the disappointing turnout in town.Β

Antonio Maldonado wrote, "If you did not vote today, do not complain about the city leadership. You've been afforded a chance to pick your leaders today. Now live with the natura consequence of your choices."Β 

Elizabeth O'Fallon wrote, "I think it is so sad how there were several local issues on the ballot and so few people turned out for it. We not only vote but work for the candidates/issues we support. The best way to have your voice heard is to participate in the process."
