Wednesday morning, Hernandez said he's happy the election is over and ready to move forward.

"It has been a long three-month battle," he said. "I'm glad it's over, and I'm glad that the people selected me to represent them again."

In looking toward the future, Hernandez said he wants to work on building a camraderie with the community. He said he would like to generate some block parties for residents to get to know each other and has a couple in the works for June.

Hernandez will be serving his third term on the council. He was first elected in 2006.
