The Bill Count: Florissant Passes New Laws in Meeting

From off-site tent sales to amending special use permits, the council approved new laws for Florissant.

Besides approving a six-month moratorium, the Florissant City Council passed a number of ordinances during Monday night’s meeting, including:

  • An amendment to an ordinance that reduces the fee of to $40 for nonprofit organizations. Mayor Tom Schneider had previously introduced an ordinance when he was the Ward 3 councilman. Ward 9 Councilman Ben Hernandez reintroduced it with the condition that the organization present 501c(3) status with its application.
  • The council passed Bill 7806, which readopts the conflict of interest procedure for the Florissant city code. Ward 6 Councilman explained that this is an ordinance that’s renewed every two years.
  • Bills 7808 and 7809 pertained to the automobile repair shop at 865 N. Lafayette St. The first allowed for a special use permit amendment to allow another auto repair shop business to come into the location. The second bill granted the special use permit to Mike Miller to move his business to the shop.
  • The council passed an ordinance that would amend a funeral absence city code to include grandchildren to immediate family.
