There is no Walmart in Florissant and I hope that continues (the closest one is in Ferguson and it's horrible, although I don't shop at Walmart, period. Not since I went away to college many years ago - where it was one of the only options). Walmart in itself as a brand is not what I see for Florissant, and I know execs at companies who have to deal with Walmart regarding their product sales and it is pathetic how Walmart treats them, and every other vendor (they have muscle and they use it to sqeeze each and every supplier and company involved with them). I grew up in Florissant, represented the city on the court as a teenager and am very proud of this area. I moved back in '06 from St. Charles (talked into moving there by my husband for our starter home and moved back to Florissant after my hubby fell in love with it and the people). Decisions for a Walmart would hurt the city and I hope our leaders continue to do what is right, which includes keeping Walmart out.

there would be no way of keeping a walmart out. if they want to pay for it themselves. let them. I have a feeling there will be no stopping it this time

Florissant does not need another retailer in that area. There are three grocery stores, plus Target and K Mart selling groceries within a two mile radious. This will put people that are already employed in this area out of work or cause a reduction of hours and benifits. I would prefer not to give my tax dollars to help Walmart build another store. If they eally want to build a store in Florissant they should do it on thier own dime, not on the tax payers of this community.

I agree with that regarding the tax incentives, but I have a feeling tax incentives or not, they are most likely coming regardless if the city council says no, they will still go in anyway. and truthfully we need a walmart in the worst way. the city would benefit from this.
