Mark Your Calendar: Florissant Hosts Sales, Events This Weekend

From the Electronic Recycling Drive to the citywide garage sale, there's no shortage of things happening in town this weekend.

With birds and bees beginning to emerge from their winter hiatus so are the Florissant residents and events.

The City of Florissant as well as area organizations have a number of events happening around the area this weekend, and we’ve got them all rounded up below:

  • For those ready to buy the summer clothes or other items for the kiddies, 3R Kids Consignment will host its semiannual sale this weekend at Atonement Lutheran School. According to the group’s Facebook page, the sale will boast a number of items, including: clothing, boys size preemie to 20, girls size preemie to 18 and junior size 0-15; toys, indoor and outdoor; books; puzzles; games, electronic and board games; bikes, sporting gear/accessories; baby accessories of all kinds; maternity clothing, all seasons; and much, much more. The sale stars Friday at 6 p.m. in its opening to the public and will be open Saturday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sunday, 1-4 p.m. For more information, visit the 3R Kids website.
  • For those looking for a more athletic activity, the disc golf course at Florissant’s Dunegant Park will officially open for play Saturday. The main portion of the day will feature a competitive tournament for all play levels, beginner to professional master. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.
  • The City of Florissant will host its annual Electronics Recycling Drive at St. Ferdinand Park. The list of accepted items, include: networking and telecommunications equipment, phones (home and cell), clocks, TVs—one per car-- VCRs, DVD players, stereos, A/V equipment including cable and satellite boxes, home electronics, rechargeable batteries, fax machines, adapters/chargers and household appliances. The event starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. It’s open to Florissant residents only, and all donators must provide a valid resident card.
  • The annual Florissant Garage Sale will also take place Saturday at the James J. Eagan Center. More than 40 vendors will have booths and sell a number of things from household goods to clothes to baby items. The sale is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and will be held on the ice rink.
  • The Florissant Police Department will partner with the Drug Enforcement Agency to host a Drug Takeback event Saturday. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., the Florissant Police Department will collect expired, unused and other prescription and non-prescription drugs at the Florissant Police Department – with no questions asked.
  • Emerson Family YMCA will host its annual Healthy Kids Day at its site in Ferguson. The day will feature free health screenings, a magic show, summer camp sign-up, family zumba, kickball and obstacle course. A free Tshirt will be provided to the first 100 kids, too. The event is free and open to the public.
