Florissant's Ward 7 and Ward 9 Seats Challenged in April Election

Councilwoman Karen McKay and Councilman Ben Hernandez will have to campaign for the upcoming municipal election.

Of the five up for election in April, only two of them will be contested.

Pending verification of signatures and petitions, Ward 7 and Ward 9 will be the only contested seats in April's Florissant municipal election.

Current incumbents Ward 7 Councilwoman Karen McKay and Ward 9 Councilman Ben Hernandez have filed for their seats, City Clerk Karen Goodwin said.

In Ward 7, will challenge the 11-year incumbent. In Ward 9, Michael Bober will challenge Hernandez.

Goodwin said that Ward 1 Councilman Tim Lee, Ward 3 Councilman Joe Eagan and Ward 5 Councilman Keith Schildroth had filed with no opponents.

Filling for the election closed Tuesday at 5 p.m. The municipal election will be held April 3.
