Florissant Festival Marks the Changing of the Season

The Florissant Old Town Fall Festival marks its 14th year in October.

Oct. 9 marks the 14th Florissant Fall Festival, a celebration of the heritage of historic Old Town Florrisant.

The event is the creation of the Florissant Old Town Partners, a nonprofit organization that represents citizens and businesses that promote the historic Old Town Florrisant district.

The family-friendly festival offers informational booths on retirement communities, the library, commercially available jewelry and crafts. But what would a festival be without food?

"Oh, there will be so many different types of food from funnel cakes to kettle corn, barbecue, Asian food, quesadillas," said Kati Mahoney, manager of Florissant Old Town Partners.

Mahoney forgot to mention a favorite: fried Oreos.

The festival extends from Florissant Road to the St. Ferdinand Shrine and runs 11 blocks on rue St. Francois.

Billy Peek, a former guitarist for susperstar Rod Stewart, is scheduled to play throughout the festival.

The festival is also dog friendly with water bowls provided for the family's best friend.

There is also a chili cookoff that will take place throughout the festival, which runs from noon to 5 p.m.

All applications are due by Friday and can be mailed to the Fall Festival committee, Florissant Old Town Partners, 601 rue St. Charles, Florissant, MO. 63031.
