Florissant Election Voters' Guide

We're giving you a step-by-step helping guide to Tuesday's municipal election.

With another Election Day looming in Florissant, voters have a lot to consider for this year's election, with several propositions, an annexation and two tight city council races on the ballot. 

We're giving voters some guidance, as we connect readers with our past stories and information to get them ready to head to the polls.

Polls open Tuesday at 6 a.m. Residents will have the opportunity to vote all day until polls close at 7 p.m.

If you’re not sure where you should vote, St. Louis County’s Board of Elections provides two ways to find your polling place. You can enter your address on the Vote Missouri website or look at the PDF document provided by the board of elections

City Council Races

There are five city council races happening in each respective ward, and three of the councilmen have an uncontested race.

School Board of Education Races

The and school districts each have three candidates for two seats on their respective boards.

In the Ferguson-Florissant School District, incumbent Paul Schroeder seeks to keep his seat on the board and continue into his third term on the board. , two other candidates have an opportunity to fill his seat. Second-time candidate Brian Scott Ebert is hoping to have a winning bid, while stay-at-home mom Barbara Morris also hopes to win the seat.

In the Hazelwood School District, both incumbents, Mark Behlmann and Desiree Whitlock have sought re-election to their posts, while Keith L. Boykin Sr. hopes to win a seat in his political bid.

St. Louis Community College Board of Trustees

Subdistricts 1 and 3 of the St. Louis Community College Board of Trustees will be up for election Tuesday.

Subdistrict 1, which supports the , , Riverview Gardens, Jennings, Pattonville, Ritenour, , Normandy,  and school districts, has four challengers for one seat on the board.

Annexation

Voters in Area 13 as well as Florissant residents will decide whether to annex the area into the . The area’s boundaries are Old Halls Ferry Road, Lindbergh Boulevard and Coldwater Creek, including Spring Creek Condominiums and .

Propositions

There will be four propositions for residents to consider on the ballot.

The measure needs a 57 percent approval by voters to pass. If passed, it would represent about $8 in annual property taxes for each St. Louis County property owner, but would not raise taxes for residents.
