Florissant Councilman, Local Business Owner Face Off in General Election

Keith English and Rekha Sharma will battle each other for the 68th district seat.

In November, Florissant voters will have to decide on a new representative for the 68th District.

Earlier this month, So, they will take each other on for the seat in the Nov. 6 general election.

said he’ll be using the same energy he used toward the primary in the general.

“We covered 95 percent of the district during the primary, so we’ve got some more talking to do,” he said.

English, who has served on since 2007, said that he remains committed to serving the people of Florissant in his City Council role throughout the campaign process.

, who became a naturalized immigrant in 2008, said that while she recognizes that she might be considered an underdog, she feels good about her chances.

“I knocked on 2,000 houses and got 1,600 votes (in the primary),” she said. “If you reach out to people, I think people will vote for me.”

She said that amongst immigrant voters, black voters and women voters, she feels she could do well with votes in November. No matter what, Sharma said she’s enjoying the campaign process and the democratic process.
