Florissant City Council Weighs $33K Expense, Procedure Change

The Florissant City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday night.

The Florissant City Council could take its final vote on a proposal for up to $33,000 to fix a light pole in St. Ferdinand Park, but it could lead to how the council approves future allotments.

The light pole suffered damage during  the April 10 storm, and all councilors agree that it should be fixed. A couple of councilors questioned the procedure to have it done, however.

At the May 27 meeting, Ward 6 Counciman Pat Stinnett asked why bids weren’t first sought before being presented to council, and he thought that in the future this should be considered. Ward 2 Councilman John Grib agreed with Stinnett.

Mayor Tom Schneider noted that he didn’t expect the light pole to cost no more than $33,000 from estimates received, and it could be discussed in the future.

The Council will also hear the winners of this year’s annual Beautiful Home Awards.
