Florissant City Council Bans Bath Salts

Councils makes unanimous vote following state house's bath salts vote.

On the heels of the Missouri House of Representatives voting in favor 143-13 of banning the synthetic drug “” in the state, the Florissant City Council made a unanimous decision to do the same.

The council voted 7-0 in favor of banning bath salts and synthetic marijuana within the city’s boundaries. 

Before the final vote, Ward 4 Councilman Keith English applauded the police department, Florissant Police Chief William Karabas and Ward 7 City Councilwoman for bringing up the awareness of the drugs.

Ward 8 Councilman Mark Schmidt made sure to point out to residents that this would not go after those who sell bath salts for bath water. Instead, it would pursue those who sell the synthetic drug and label it as such.

English continued to say that he wanted to make sure it was passed and on the books for the police department to have as a tool.
