District 68 Candidates Discuss Issues Important to Florissant

Candidates Rekha Sharma, Keith English will face off in the Nov. 6 election.

With less than two months to the Nov. 6 general election, the candidates of the 68th District have begun acknowledging where they stand on what needs to happen next for North St. Louis County.

Both candidates tout similar issues and concerns for the Florissant area, such as jobs and economic growth.

said that as an entrepreneur, she would like to bring jobs to North St. Louis County as it’s a fundamental problem for the area.

Her second big issue for the area is to be able to freeze property taxes for senior citizens and being able to take care of them.

Democratic candidate Keith English said for him the No.1 issue for the North County area is jobs.

“As a Councilman in Florissant for over six years, I have worked with an aggressive council and administration to fill any vacant buildings and work to bring businesses here that the people want,” English wrote in an email to Patch. “You can see developement is still happening and jobs are being created. On a state level Tax Incentives, not TIFF's or CID's can be used to help the economy and business owners.”

He also emphasizes that he plans to not make issues a one-sided party issues and assures voters that he will work both sides of the aisle.
