City Council Pass Meth Bill, Discuss Internet Cafe

City councilors attempt to clean up meth properties with new ordinance.

approved a bill that would provide for the cleanup of former meth properties in the city.

The council unanimously approved Ordinance 7873, which introduces “protocols for abatement of contamination due to the production of methamphetamine.”

Ward 3 Councilman Joe Eagan said that this would allow for the properties to be thoroughly cleaned and inspected before property owners moved into this building.

Internet cafe might be on its way

Florissant City Council held a public hearing for The Spot Café, a proposed Internet café for Florissant, Monday night but not without a big concern.

One councilor expressed their worries about the parking where the business will be located.

If The Spot goes in next to , worried about the parking as the bar takes up a lot of spots on weekend nights.

She asked the petitioner do a bit more homework and make sure that the area is satisfactory for parking before finishing all of its necessary paperwork.

Petitioner Darren Burress assured the councilwoman that he had looked at the situation and remained confident that there would be enough parking for his customers.

The Spot Café would be an Internet café serving coffee, soda, chips and other prepackaged food and having free WiFi for its customers. The café will also offer PacMan, Xbox and other game systems.

Burress said that they plan to open in early June and have hours of operation seven days a week, Sunday-Thursday, 6 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 6 a.m.-midnight.
