An Old-Town Christmas Brings Joy to Many Florissant Residents

Patch has a recap of Saturday's tree-lighting and activities.

It was yet another successful Christmas in Old Town event and tree lighting ceremony last Saturday to officially start the holiday season.

When residents arrived at 2 p.m. at City Hall, they were treated to hot chocolate and a variety of activities. In addition to face painting, cookie decorating and story book reading, they enjoyed a visit from two local authors who were selling a special Christmas book as well as crafts from the St. Louis County Library.

Mrs. Claus was even on hand creating balloon art. The event was well attended, and most everyone who attended seemed to enjoy the festivities.

The Boeing band performed on the steps of City Hall leading up to the tree lighting ceremony, which began at 6 p.m. Mayor Thomas Schneider welcome everyone before he lit up the tree.

Also in attendance were Major Tim Lowery, Captain Randy Boden and Captain Sean Fagan.  Members of the 2012 Valley of Flowers Court recited a poem and  sang Christmas carols to highlight the tree lighting.
