Victim Wrestled with Assailant During Robbery Attempt, Police Say
Vonzel Adams was charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
A Florissant man grabbed a gun and wrestled with another man during a robbery attempt on Santiago Drive June 28, police said.
Vonzel Khalid Adams, 24, of the 2800 block of Nottinghill Row in Florissant, was charged July 10 with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
Florissant police said the victim met Adams at an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Santiago Drive to sell the defendant CDs and other items. Police said Adams pulled a fun out of a duffle bag he was carrying , but the victim grabbed the gun and the two began wrestling.

According to Florissant Police, Adams was able to take the gun the victim carried on his hip for protection and ran off with it.
Police said the victim identified Adams.

Adams is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $75,000, cash only.
