Two Men Attack McDonald's Employee, Take Payroll Debit Card

Florissant Police said Elijah R. Black and Laythan Hearton hit the man from behind and repeatedly punched and kicked him

Two 17-year-old men attacked a McDonaldโ€™s employee in Florissant after he got off work and stole his payroll debit card, police said.

Laythan L. Hearton, 17, of the 10300 block of Lilac Avenue in Riverview, and Elijah Black, 17, of the 2100 block of Central Parkway in North County, each were charged Aug. 29 with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault.

Florissant Police said Hearton and Black hit the man in the back of the head at about 11:07 p.m. Aug. 27 near Shackelford Road and Friendship Court.

The man told police the two attacked him after he got off work at McDonaldโ€™s, and they took his payroll debit card. Police said once the man was on the ground, Hearton and Black repeatedly punched and kicked him in the head.

The victim was hospitalized with injuries to his face, head and knee.

Police said when officers arrived, Hearton and Black fled the scene, and Black was arrested a few blocks away. Hearton was arrested later.

Black and Hearton are being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail for Black was set at $75,000. Bail for Hearton was set at $15,000.
