Two Florissant Residents Involved in Fatal Car Accidents

One Florissant man dies following crash in St. Charles County, while a Florissant woman suffers serious injuries.

Two separate fatal accidents involving Florissant drivers occurred on Saturday, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

At 4:20 p.m., a 2000 Nissan Maxima, driven by a 16-year-old Hazelwood resident, struck the median on north Interstate 170 and rotated into the southbound side of the highway. Thatโ€™s when Grace Matney, of Florissant, struck the car, and a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu also hit Matneyโ€™s 2003 Chevrolet Blazer, according to the crash report.

An 11-year-old Hazelwood resident, who was in the Maxima, died at the scene of the accident.

Matney and the 16-year-old driver sustained serious injuries and were taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Childrenโ€™s Hospital, respectively.

Matney did not wear a seat belt at the time of the accident, while both girls in the Maxima wore seat belts, according to the crash report.

Later that night, David Laramie of Florissant died in a crash in St. Charles County.

Laramie, 47, was driving on southbound U.S. 61 when he veered to the left side of the road. When he tried to straighten the car, the car went too far on the right side of the road and overturned, the crash report said. Laramie was ejected from the vehicle.

Dr. Pascal Nyachowe of Mercy Hospital pronounced him dead shortly after midnight.

Laramie did not have a seat belt on, according to the crash report.
