A St. Louis County man received 144 months in prison Thursday stemming from charges of selling heroin and striking an officer during an investigation in the Florissant area.

Three Florissant detectives were involved in the investigation of a narcotics distribution situation in December 2011 at Motel 6, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. In their investigation, Quantraill Earl Smith and two other men were discovered to be involved in the distribution of heroin, according to a press release.

Upon Smith being arrested, one of the detectives noticed a weapon in his possession, and Smith assaulted him with his elbow and struck him in the face and shoulder.
