Police: Man Fled Traffic Stop, Cut Off Other Motorists on I-270

Jamal Dixon was charged with resisting a lawful stop and creating a serious risk of injury or death.

A man initially pulled over for a traffic violation sped away from an officer who stopped him, cutting off drivers on Interstate 270 at Old Halls Ferry Road, police said.

Jamal Dixon, 26, of the 5100 block of Longhorn Trail in north St. Louis County, was charged March 14 with resisting a lawful stop and creating a serious risk of injury or death, a class D felony.

St. Louis County Police said an officer pulled Dixon over for several traffic violations at 9:10 p.m. Feb. 18, 2012. As the officer approached his car, Dixon accelerated and sped away, pulling out in front of another car and causing it to nearly run off the road, according to a police report. The officer reported Dixon cut off other motorists as he entered the Interstate 270 onramp, causing the drivers to swerve to avoid collisions.
