UPDATE: Man Found Shot Near St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley

The shooting victim has been taken to an area hospital.

A man was found shot in the upper torso near the St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley in Ferguson Wednesday afternoon, Ferguson Police said.

Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said a young man, who had been shot, flagged down a car near the intersection of Hudson Road and College Drive on the campus for help. The driver of the car took the man to the physical facilities building on campus, where he sought help.

Police have not yet confirmed where the shooting took place.

The man has been taken to an area hospital, and Chief Jackson said the victim had been talking to police there. Ferguson police continue to investigate and have not named any suspects in the case.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley president Marcia Pfeiffer issued a statment on the school's website about the incident:

At approximately 2:05 p.m. today, Feb. 20, a shooting occurred near the Florissant Valley campus. Another individual came across the victim and transported him to our campus physical facilities building. Ferguson Fire and Rescue responded and the victim was provided treatment and transported to a nearby hospital. The Ferguson police are now in charge of this investigation. Please be assured that the Florissant Valley campus is a safe and secure environment. Classes are still scheduled for this evening.
