Officer Tazes Man Minutes After Robbery in Ferguson, Police Say

Ferguson Police said Vincent Edwards Jr and two others attacked a man, taking his cell phone and wallet.

Ferguson Police tazed a 17-year-old man after a victim pointed him out as a person who punched him and, along with two others, stole his cell phone and wallet.

Vincent F. Edwards Jr, of the 1300 block of Odessa Drive in Bellefontaine Neighbors, 17, was charged July 15 with second-degree robbery and resisting arrest.

Ferguson Police said three people attacked a man and stole his wallet and a cell phone July 14 on Canfield Court in Ferguson, police said.

The victim told police he was walking on Canfield Court at about 3:23 p.m. July 14 when three men approached him and one asked to use his cell phone. The man refused, but said Edwards punched him in the head. The man tried to run, but Edwards grabbed him and knocked him down.

Edwards and the two other men then started to punch him. The men took the man’s cell phone and wallet.

At about 4 p.m., the victim was riding with a police officer and drove by Edwards. The man pointed Edwards out, and he ran when police tried to arrest him. Police said an officer ran Edwards down and had to subdue him with a tazer.

Edwards is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $30,000, cash only.
