North County Man Sells Car Three Times, Police Say

St. Louis County Police said the man accepted an $8,000 check from GEICO, didn't send in the title and re-sold the car -- twice.

A North County man faces charges for accepting an insurance payment for a car without turning the car over to the insurance company.

Charles Brown, 46, of the 1100 block of English Saddle in North County near Champ County Park, was charged Oct. 10 with stealing a motor vehicle.

St. Louis County Police said Brown received an $8,000 check from GEICO Insurance after the company judged his 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix was totaled from hail damage. Police said Brown sent the company the title, but did not turn the car over to GEICO.
