North County Man Sells Car Three Times, Police Say

St. Louis County Police said the man accepted an $8,000 check from GEICO, didn't send in the title and re-sold the car -- twice.

A North County man faces charges for accepting an insurance payment for a car without turning the car over to the insurance company.

Charles Brown, 46, of the 1100 block of English Saddle in North County near Champ County Park, was charged Oct. 10 with stealing a motor vehicle.

St. Louis County Police said Brown received an $8,000 check from GEICO Insurance after the company judged his 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix was totaled from hail damage. Police said Brown sent the company the title, but did not turn the car over to GEICO.

Police said Brown then sold the car to an acquaintance, but did not turn the title over to her. The car later was reported stolen in St. Ann. Brown located the car and sold it to a third party, according to police documents.

Bail was set at $15,000.

Now who in their right mind would think this guy is an out and out thief. Oh no, he's merely a creative entrepreneur. Instead of being charged with stealing, shouldn't he be applauded for his resourcefulness?

This man is a fool...taking advantage of innocent hardworking people. And he is just greedy. I say shut the door on that clown, lock it and throw away the keys!
